Quatech USB-to-Serial Adapter User’s Manual Installing the software

Installing under Windows 2000

Follow these steps to install the USB-to-Serial adapter under

Windows 2000.

Step Procedure Description

 Step 1 Turn on the power to your computer

system.

This is the system in which the device is to

be installed.

 Step 2 Plug the wide flat end of the USB cable

into the downstream connector.

This is the connector located on the back of

the computer of USB hub.

 Step 3 Plug the square end of the USB cable into

the back of the USB-to-Serial adapter.

Windows tells you that it has found new

hardware and launches the Add New

Hardware Wizard. The Found new

hardware prompt displays.

Step Procedure Description

 Step 4 Click the Next button. The Search for or display drivers

prompt displays.

Figure 6 illustrates the

launches automatically when

you first plug in the USB-to-

Serial adapter.
